Judy Davidson: 2019 Rutherford Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. Instituted at the University of Alberta in 1982, the Rutherford Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching is the University's premier teaching award. Its purpose is to recognize teaching excellence publicly, to publicize such excellence to the University and the wider community, to encourage the pursuit of such excellence, and to promote informed discussion of teaching and its improvement at the University of Alberta.
John Dunn: In his role as Team Koe’s mental performance coach, Dunn helped Koe’s rink secure the 2019 Brier championship title in March, and the silver medal at the Men’s Curling World Championships on April 7th.
Abbie Schenk (MA): Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Master’s Scholarship. This scholarship helps to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students in the social sciences and humanities who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies. Research topic: Exploring trans and non-binary people’s experiences of travel through the photos they take.

Chen Chen (PhD Candidate): Runner-up, 2019 North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) Student Research Competition. Research topic: Non-Indigenous Volunteers at Indigenous Games: An Exploratory Study.
Brock Davidiuk (Golden Bears Volleyball Assistant Coach): Brock has been inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame in the Athlete Category. READ MORE
Campus & Community Recreation Facility Services: Honourable Mention, Campus Sustainability Leadership Awards. Each year, in celebration of Earth Day, members of the campus community are recognized for their outstanding contributions towards advancing sustainability at the University of Alberta with the Campus Sustainability Leadership Awards. Campus & Community Recreation was nominated in the area of Operations to reward staff or organization who has successfully taken action to make their workplace's operations and/or facilities more sustainable.
Campus & Community Recreation Customer Service Centre: Green Spaces Certification. CCR Customer Service Centre qualified for a Gold certification for making changes such as such as reusing non-confidential papers for our notes instead of sticky notes, setting up a pen and battery recycling bin and ensuring our paper we use for printing is made from recycled paper.
On April 1, Golden Bears and Pandas Athletics hosted their annual Green and Gold Awards. Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation students Alex Poznikoff (BARST) and Austin Cole (BKin) were both named 2019 UAlberta Athletes of the Year. READ MORE
Graeme Purdy (BScKin ’18): Featured Knowledge Translation article in the April Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Communiqué. This research was completed by Graeme when he was an undergraduate student working Margie Davenport and Craig Steinback’s lab. Research topic: Nervous system control of heart rate in response to exercise during pregnancy. READ MORE
