CALGARY - The Mount Royal Cougars made a swift comeback after last night's defeat to the Alberta Pandas, the Cougars taking the match in straight sets (25-22, 25-19, 25-21) despite some strong pushback, Saturday night at Kenyon Court.

For the Cougars, fifth-year outside hitter Chantel Park earned 12 kills while setter Quinn Pelland had a strong 29 assists, Mount Royal improving to 11-1.

The first set began with a Cougars lead, which stayed strong throughout the set. The Pandas stayed close on their tails, nearly tying the match at 20-21. The Cougars stayed tough, however, and took the set 25-22 with a kill by Quinn Pelland.

The Pandas were coming on in the second set until the Cougars surpassed them at the fourth point. The two squads traded points as they vied for control, but Mount Royal pulled ahead after a 17-17 tie and held steady. Chantel Park ended the set at 25-19.

The third set was also close as the teams once again traded points. For a moment, the Pandas took control of the set and the opponents were neck-and-neck until 21-21. In the end, the Cougars made a series of hard kills and one service ace to take the set 25-21.
