REGINA, SK - Autumn MacDougall recorded a hat trick for the Pandas to give Alberta a 3-0 win over the Regina Cougars in a Saturday afternoon women’s hockey matchup at The Co-operators Centre.
Kirsten Chamberlin recorded nine saves to collect a shutout for the Pandas improving their record to 5-6-1-0 on the season, while Jane Kish made 17 saves for the Cougars who fall to 3-7-2-0.
MacDougall opened up the scoring at the 17:25 mark in the first period. A Cougar defender was stripped of the puck by MacDougall, who walked into the Cougar zone and took a wrist shot beating Kish glove side.
The Pandas struck again with only one second left in the first period. Alex Poznikoff sent a pass to the front of the Cougars’ net, where MacDougall was waiting and quickly shot the puck five-hole for her second goal of the night.
MacDougall completed her hat trick with a goal late in the second period. During the third period, Alberta controlled the game and only allowed one Regina shot.
The Cougars will return to action with a road game at the University of Saskatchewan on Nov. 22 and will play at home against the Huskies on the 23rd. Alberta will also be at home next weekend, facing the University of Manitoba Bisons.
