Trio of Bears named U SPORTS Football All-Canadians

QUEBEC CITY, QUE. - Three Alberta Golden Bears were named U SPORTS All-Canadians, as the national office announced their All-Canadian squads at the Vanier Cup banquet in Quebec City on Thursday night.

Fourth-year offensive lineman Carter O'Donnell and fourth-year free safety Jayden Dalke were named a first team All-Canadians, while fifth-year receiver Ben Kopczynski was named a second team All-Canadian. This is the second national all-star honour for O'Donnell, who was named to the second team in 2018.

O'Donnell started seven of his eight games at right tackle for Alberta. The fourth-year offensive lineman was ranked 11th in the CFL Prospects list last month, and is one of the most highly regarded lineman in Canada.

In just his third season as a receiver, Kopczynski led Canada West with 799 receiving yards and 53 receptions. His receiving total was the 5th most in program history, while he's the second Bear in three years to lead Canada West after Nathan Rowe did the same in 2017.

Dalke finished fifth in Canada West with 44.5 tackles this season, in his first season with the Green and Gold. He also added three interceptions, six pass breakups and one fumble recovery this season.
